John Skober

John Skober currently serves as the Special Projects Program Manager for the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Financial Management and Comptroller). In this capacity, he leads the Department of the Navy’s efforts to remediate material deficiencies and secure a clean audit opinion for the Navy Working Capital Fund, which encompasses industrial businesses in research and development, depot maintenance, supply management, and transportation operations. Prior to this role, Mr. Skober was the Comptroller and Financial Management Department Head at the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC). As the SWRMC’s Chief Financial Manager, he advised the Command and its affiliated offices on financial management and resource allocation of over $1B. Previously he was Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness branch head at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command where he managed the people, processes and tools to meet full financial statement audit objectives. Mr. Skober began as an accountant at Lockheed Martin Corporate Shared Services where he supported migration from legacy systems to SAP R/3 ERP and led internal audits. He continued as an Internal Audit Consultant assisting high-profile companies with financial reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance through Internal Control programs, leveraging IT and data analytics.
