Katlin (Kate) Spero

Kate has worked in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy Financial, Management and Comptroller (OASN FM&C) in various capacities since joining the federal government in 2018. Ms. Spero is currently the Deputy Division Director and IT Lead for the FMO Internal Controls and Compliance Division, who leads DON Integrated Risk Management (IRM) and compliance with OMB Circular NO. A-, 123. In previous roles, Ms. Spero has lead the Financial Management (FM) Overlay which enhances audit requirement accountability with the IT systems accreditation process, supported various Financial Statement Audit initiatives including the DON’s IT Notice of Risk and Findings (NFR) validation program, and initiated efforts on automation governance and started the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Center of Excellence (CoE) and its associated governance framework. Prior to her career in government service, Kate spent over 7 years as a contractor at Accenture Federal Services supporting various Navy clients in the audit readiness efforts and endeavors both on the financial and IT sides. Kate earned her college degree from the University of Vermont (UVM), where she concentrated in accounting and finance business areas. She is a Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM).
